And just when you thought it was safe to leave your spaceship for a minute…

Grand Theft Auto, Andriod Style!

The “Androids Always Win!” series of shirts is the mastermind of a guy named Richard, who single-handedly designs and prints the tees in a small workshop in California. They feature a quirky and lovable android that is one of the coolest, most creative, and most original mascots that I’ve seen in a while.

The designs are printed on the ever comfortable American Apparel t-shirt, sell for about $22 (some are on sale and a little cheaper), and payment through PayPal is supported as well. There’s some cool little bonuses going on too, like getting 10% off if you sign up for the mailing list, and a free pack of “Androids Always Win!” stickers with each purchase.

I recommend heading over to The Dept. Store and checking them out.

Finroo is a cool new site (still in ‘beta’ at the time of this review) that sells unique, limited edition t-shirt’s that are printed in bunches of 100. After those 100 shirts are sold (each numbered for authenticity), then that design is no longer printed. So if you’re looking for something personal that no one else is wearing, then these might be worth checking out, as you’ll probably never see anyone else wearing the exact same shirt.

What else makes Finroo unique you ask? Here’s a couple things that I found to be pretty cool: First of all, the shirts are printed on a bamboo/organic cotton combo tee, which supposedly feel pretty comfortable (I’ve got to try one sometime). They also donate $1 from every purchase to charity.

When you visit the site, you’ll notice that the most popular shirts will gravitate toward the homepage, allowing you to make a move before it’s too late and the design sells out. Artists might also want to check out Finroo, as they can score a $4 commission for each shirt sold with their design.

Although the shirts didn’t seem to be flying off the shelf when I checked out the site (probably because it’s so new), I was actually fairly impressed with the designs. You’ll some some sites that seem to accept every design that’s sent to them, but these definitely have some quality artists behind them. I noticed a few colorful, abstract designs that really caught my eye when I visited the site. If you forced me to pick something to gripe about, it could be that all the designs I’ve seen so far are printed on white tees, which might not everyone’s cup of tea. And the prices are a tad higher than some other t-shirt sites. But still, go check em’ out.

“Answers to Michaelangelo. His favorite food is pizza, but he hates anchovies. He has an orange blindfold cut out for the eyes. Keep an eye out at the clubs and bars because he’s a party dude. Be careful because he has nun-chucks. His owner really misses him. Call splinter at 555-4372.”

Missing Turtle from Mediocore Clothing

If that means anything to you, then you’ll probably want to check out Jon Kruse’s t-shirt site, Mediocore Clothing. The site is all about going back to days when we kids, when cartoons were awesome. While the selection isn’t great, he does have, in addition to the turtle shirt mentioned above, a pretty cool Shark Week shirt as well.

I should mention the 100% Awesome Guarantee too. Have you ever got a shirt that was a little too small, or maybe too big? Or you got the shirt and the quality was just blah? Well, Jon offers a full guarantee that his shirts will be awesome. You can return you shirts for a full refund for whatever reason, even if you bought the wrong size. If every company did this, the internet would be a better place.

I’m a Hot Tee is a newer t-shirt company (founded around October), and while their selection right now isn’t too impressive, they do have some cool stuff, and lots of potential. They pride themselves on selling shirts of the “clean humor” variety, so you don’t have to worry about wearing these tees around mom. Their ultimate goal, however, is simple: to make you hotter.

Hill Valley Hoverboard Champion!

One of their shirts that I like, which will no doubt make you the King of Hot, is the “Hill Valley Hoverboard Champion” shirt. Anybody? No? Um…OK, you guys apparently aren’t “Back to the Future II” fans…well, as Mike, the owner of I’m a Hot Tee said on his blog, not many people will know what this shirt is about, but if you’re wearing this shirt and stumble across someone who does, you will no doubt be his/her King of Hot (by the way, this shirt is printed on The King of Comfy, an American Apparel tee…some of their other shirts use other brands, though).

Oh, and since I love you guys so much, I’ve got a little discount code for you. Just use the coupon code “aaron” when you checkout, and you’ll get 15% off of your order.

If you’ve been following my blog at all, then you know that I really appreciate shirts that make you think, that stand out from all the shirts with monotonous and sometimes boring, bland, and uncreative sayings (come on, we’ve all seen them).

Cultural Cotton Think T-Shirt

That’s why I really took a liking to Cultural Cotton. They strive to produce “culturally relevant” t-shirts that actually mean something. They want you to think about what you’re wearing, and make other people think when they see what you’re wearing. That’s something I definitely appreciate.

Of course, since they want to be socially conscious, they go with American Apparel shirts as the shirt of choice for their designs (since AA doesn’t use a sweatshop environment, and such)…and probably also because they make the most comfy shirts ever…

When I checked them out, shirts were $20 each, with free shipping if you buy two. If you’re looking for shirts that are relevant to today’s society, and actually mean something, give Cultural Cotton a look…and let me know what you “think” in the comments.
